This data is collected to support the maintenance and management of WDC's stormwater network. This layer includes fields that classify, e.g., lining material, length, depth etc.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>A Channel, in general terms, represents a group of asset types that can be categorised by the following definition – ‘A long natural or manmade depression in the ground used for the transmission of water’.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Channels can be used for a variety of purposes including:</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Carrying surface water to be used for stock water or irrigation</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Removing stormwater from its collection point as part of a drainage system</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Channel asset types include network drain, receiving waterway, process channel and water race.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Network Drain: an artificially man made channel within the ground’s surface from which a body of water flows and carries surface water and is open to the air.
